My (beautiful) treatment room

I’m very lucky to treat from a beautiful, tranquil space – a treatment room built in my garden.

It’s calm.  It has great energy: most people who walk into it, take a deep breathe and start to relax immediately.  Given that many people have symptoms that are stress related, that has to be a good start, before we’ve even begun to talk things over, or I’ve got to my needles.

It’s close to nature.  Patients often remark on the changes in the growth of the trees and hedges they see – or the rabbits and pheasants that wander past.  In summer I open the French windows out onto the paddock, to let the evening sunlight stream in. When it rains, we listen to the sound of rain on the roof, admiring the rhythmic patter, or watch clouds pass by through the skylight. We can all learn from nature – the better we understand the fluctuations of the energy within seasons, the more we can apply this to ourselves and start to live with a more natural rhythm: slowing down in Winter, building up our energy for Spring and Summer.

Treating from home means I can be really flexible for my patients – if someone needs an evening appointment or an emergency appointment, I can usually fit them in.  Being able to be flexible, to work in such a fabulous environment, brings the best out in me as a practitioner – which delivers the best treatment for my patients.  Inspirational!

And, finally, a practical point.  there is plenty of parking beside it – so no frantic search for a parking space (or change for a meter) at the last minute.  Let’s face it, it’s the last thing you need when you are trying to get somewhere on time…!

I also work out of the Michelham Unit at Eastbourne General Hospital, for those people who can’t get to me by car.
